Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Betty And Veronica's Bondage Work-out

Many of you (if you've search long enough), have probably come across the above image detail of Betty Cooper hog-tied with a jump-rope. The scene is from a story in Betty & Veronica Spectacular #8 (Archie Comic Publications, Inc.~May, 1994). But, there is a lot more to the tale than just Ronnie getting in some "pseudo-dom" moves. Ronnie also gets herself into a nearly fatale DIP scenario when she starts "sleep jogging"! There is also a later scene of both of the girls in a seaweed wrap/mummification (which involves no DID; it's just a cool scene). There are also copious scenes of the girls wearing leotards as well as shower and sauna scenes. No drooling, please. The scans here are from my personal comic-book collection and, I've included the entire eleven pages plus a cover scan...simply because. Read on...

The Pussycats Go Wild

Weird things happen when Alex tries to get the Pussycats to change their image to a more "wild and crazy" side; all in the name of "pleasing" their fans. The splash-page features a very sticky food-fight! Scanned in from Archie's T.V. Laugh-Out #98 (Archie Music Corp.~December, 1984). There's not much peril here but, there are elements of distress, especially when Alex presents Valerie with a new pet python. Josie fares a bit better with a tarantula (at least it's in a box, heh, heh...) and, for some reason known only to the writer, nothing is afforded to Melody. Alas. The usual details follow in this quick five-pager. There is also a bonus cover (of sorts) from another book in this series. I've included it for those that may need it for their collection. Have a read...

Della's Dire Dilemmas

Here's another tale from Archie's T.V. Laugh-Out #94 (Archie Music Corp.~April, 1984), involving the Head Witch, Della, as she spies on an unknowing Sabrina, to see if Sabrina is "living up" to being an evil witch (got all that?) Della goes through quite a few transmogrification spells which all end up with her in some form of peril. From banishment to the frozen Arctic, to crashing a bike, to getting trampled in a subway, Della gets pretty roughed up. Good thing she quit when she did, heh, heh. Minor detail panels follow. Veronica Goes Ape

Normally, I'd post up the entire story but, in this case, I just opted to scan in the second part of this tale from Betty & Veronica Spectacular #54 (Archie Comic Publications, Inc.~July, 2002). Part 2 is where the DID action really gets underway as Veronica awakens to find herself up a tree (quite literally), with a new-found, furry friend. Story background: Betty is invited to go along with Ronnie and her mom on an African safari. There is, unfortunately, no panel depicting Ronnie's actual abduction by "Mrs. Kong", which would have made for a great extra page. Meh. At any rate, I did make copious detail panels of Ronnie's plight. I've also included a corrected cover scan for this book. Read on...

Alexandra Strikes Again

If you don't know by now, you soon will. I cover any and all aspects of the DID/DIP genre. This Josie & the Pussycats tale from Archie's T.V. Laugh-Out #94 (Archie Music Corp.~April, 1984), illustrates that you can have plenty of distressed damsels without the bondage (though, having bit of rope isn't always a bad thing, heh, heh...) But in this tale, Alexandra uses her witch-craft powers to thwart the girls' mini-vacation...which does lead to some pretty embarrassing results for everyone involved, including Alexandra. I've also included a detail panel or two; one deals with Melody getting ready to take off her shirt. One can clearly see she not wearing anything under it. Something the censors missed, hee, hee. Fans of "slip & fall" scenarios will like this one, especially the pool-side set-up...

...oh yeah...beware of a "floating head" panel a la Valerie...

...first Melody, then Josie. Alexandra recycled a gag that worked twice...

...Melody takes it off...
